A look inside the story

Tommy’s curiosity takes him into a world of animals — elephants and their long trunks, and the costumes and characters that make every page an adventure. Here is a small selection of approved artwork from the story.

  • Open handmade book spread: a pink page reading that Tommy learned elephants have real long trunks, beside a blue page with a photograph of Tommy in costume.

From the original handmade book: Tommy learns that elephants have real long trunks — the kind of curiosity that fills every page.

  • An open storybook page: Tommy splashing with elephant friends, beside the line about a trunk like an elephant.

Tommy’s imagination brings the animals to life — splashing with elephant friends and discovering the world of the zoo.

  • Pink construction-paper page with a photograph of the real Tommy Turkey wearing animal costumes.

The real Tommy Turkey who started it all — photographed in the animal costumes that inspired the story.

From a real turkey to a family story

A real turkey named Tommy inspired a birthday gift my mom made for my grandpa. From there, she created a collection of handmade construction-paper books filled with his adventures — including All About the Zoo.

Gramma Puff — Tommy’s imaginative best friend and the heart of the farm — grew straight out of those original handmade stories. Now we’re bringing Mom’s stories and drawings to life, sharing a little piece of our family with yours.
